Frequently Asked Questions
Ordering & Capacity
How are Minycled garments made?
Every Minycled piece is made in small batches by me, Karen, with support from a local freelance pattern maker and seamstress. Each garment is cut, sewn and finished with proper time and attention, not rushed through a factory line.
Do you take unlimited orders?
No. To keep quality high and delivery realistic, I only open a limited number of order slots at a time. When I reach capacity, I pause new made-to-order purchases until there is space again.
What happens when you’re fully booked?
If I’m fully booked, the store may temporarily pause certain made-to-order options. You can still browse, but you won’t be able to check out those made-to-measure pieces until I reopen the slots.
To stay updated, join the newsletter — you’ll be the first to know when new slots go live.
How will I know when items are available to order again?
I’ll share order reopening dates via the homepage and newsletter. If you’re keen on a specific piece, signing up means you won’t miss your window.
About Minycled & Materials
What inspires Minycled’s sustainable fashion?
Minycled grew from a deep frustration with waste and fast fashion, and a love of bold prints, heritage and storytelling. I work with remnants, deadstock and responsibly sourced fabrics from UK suppliers to keep beautiful textiles in use and out of landfill.
Where do you source your fabrics?
Fabrics are sourced from UK manufacturers, small sustainable businesses and ex-designer deadstock. I also work with certified bases such as Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) cotton and TENCEL™ from trusted suppliers.
What makes Minycled different from other sustainable brands?
Minycled keeps things small, local and considered. Fabrics are sourced within the UK where possible, supporting local businesses and reducing transport impact. Pieces are made in limited runs or as one-of-a-kind, using original Minycled prints and repurposed textiles, not generic bulk fabrics.
Are your products limited in quantity?
Yes. Because I work with remnants, deadstock and repurposed materials, most pieces are produced in very small quantities, and many are one-of-a-kind. Once a fabric is gone, it’s usually gone for good.
What types of garments do you offer?
I create wrap dresses, dresses, jumpsuits, palazzo trousers, harem pants, T-shirts with original artwork, art jumpers, skirts and one-of-a-kind bags — all designed with comfort, style and longevity in mind.
Production, Ethics & Sustainability
How are your garments produced?
Each garment is cut and sewn either by me or by a small network of local makers. We work in small runs, focusing on fit, finish and feel rather than volume. This slow approach lets us check each piece properly before it reaches you.
How do you ensure fair labour practices?
I only work with local seamstresses and pattern cutters I know and trust, and I pay fair local rates. There is no hidden factory and no race to the bottom on price — people and skills are valued properly.
How do you minimise waste?
I buy fabric carefully, use deadstock and remnants, and keep offcuts for smaller projects like scrunchies, purses and textile art. Packaging is kept simple and considered, and I avoid large overproduction runs.
What happens to Minycled’s fabric scraps?
Scraps are turned into smaller pieces such as scrunchies and small purses, or saved for future upcycling projects. The aim is to make the most of every metre before anything is recycled.
What are your long-term goals for Minycled?
To grow Minycled as a slow fashion and creative hub in Torbay — supporting emerging designers, collaborating with local schools and businesses, expanding made-to-order and inclusive sizing, and continuing to show that clothing can be both beautiful and responsible.
Custom & Made-to-Measure
Can I order custom clothes?
Yes. Because pieces are made to order, I can often tweak existing designs — things like custom sizing, hem length, sleeve shape or neckline. Some styles also have a specific made-to-measure option on the product page.
How does the custom design process work?
Start by sending a message through the Contact page or using the custom / made-to-measure option. We’ll talk through what you need, your measurements, fabric options and your deadline. Once we’ve agreed the design and price, I’ll begin making your piece.
Can I choose my own fabric from your selection?
Yes. You can choose from Minycled’s own prints, deadstock fabrics, ex-designer cloth and repurposed textiles that I have in the studio. I’ll guide you towards fabrics that suit the design and how you like your clothes to feel when you wear them.
Can I provide my own fabric?
No. To stay aligned with Minycled’s sustainability and ethics, I only work with fabrics I have sourced myself and can trace. That way, I know how they’re made and where they come from.
Are there limitations to the fabrics you can use?
Very delicate, damaged or unstable fabrics won’t hold up to regular wear, so I avoid those. If a fabric isn’t suitable, I’ll explain why and suggest alternatives with a similar look or feel that will last longer.
Can I make changes to an existing Minycled design?
Often yes. We can usually adjust length, sleeves, neckline or fabric choice within reason. Tell me which piece you love and what you’d like to change, and I’ll confirm what’s possible and the cost.
How long do custom pieces take?
It depends on the complexity of the design and current workload. Simple adjustments are quicker; fully bespoke designs can take longer. I’ll always give you a clear estimated timeframe before you confirm your order.
I need an urgent made-to-measure piece for an event – is that possible?
Sometimes. It depends on my schedule and fabric availability. Send a message through the Contact page with your event date, usual size and the style you’re interested in, and I’ll let you know quickly if I can help.
How do I start a custom or made-to-measure order?
Use the Custom / Made-to-Measure section or the Contact form to tell me what you’re looking for. Include your usual size, the style you like and your deadline, and we’ll go from there.
Sizing & Fit
Can I order plus size?
Yes. Minycled is for real bodies. If your size isn’t listed, choose a made-to-order option or contact me with your measurements. I’m happy to work with you to find a comfortable, confident fit.
How do I measure myself?
Use a soft tape measure over underwear or light clothing. Key points are bust, waist, hips and length. You can follow the Size Guide on the site, or send a message if you’d like help talking through each step.
Shipping & Delivery
How long does delivery take?
Ready-to-wear items usually dispatch within a few working days. Made-to-order and custom pieces take longer because they’re created specially for you. You’ll find estimated timeframes on individual product pages and on the Shipping page.
Do you offer next-day delivery?
Next-day delivery is sometimes available for ready-to-wear pieces ordered before a certain time, within mainland UK. It isn’t available for made-to-measure or custom items. All shipping details and timings are explained on the Shipping page.
What about international taxes and duties?
Orders sent outside the UK may be subject to local customs fees, taxes or duties, which are set by your country’s authorities and are the customer’s responsibility. Please check the Shipping page and your local guidance before ordering.
Returns & Policies
Can I return my made-to-measure or custom piece?
Made-to-measure and custom garments are created specifically to your measurements and preferences, so they are usually non-refundable. If something doesn’t feel right, please get in touch as soon as possible and we can discuss possible alterations for an additional fee.
Can I return my T-shirt or other ready-to-wear items?
Yes, as long as they meet the conditions in the Returns Policy — usually unworn, unwashed and returned within the specified time frame. If there is a problem with the print or artwork, please contact me within a few days of delivery.
Where can I read your full policies?
All details on shipping, returns, refunds, privacy and terms are available on the policy pages linked in the footer of the website.
Garment & T-Shirt Care
What’s the best way to care for my Minycled garment?
Always check the care label first. In general, wash only when needed, use a gentle cycle at 30°C, and air dry. This keeps your piece looking good for longer and is kinder to the planet.
Any eco-friendly washing tips?
Use eco-friendly detergents, wash at lower temperatures and avoid tumble drying where possible. Using a Cora Ball or Guppyfriend bag can also help reduce microplastic shedding in the wash.
How do I care for my T-shirts?
Wash your T-shirts inside out at 30–40°C on a standard or gentle cycle, reshape while damp and line dry. Avoid hot washes and tumble drying as they can affect fit and colour over time. Iron only if needed, and avoid ironing directly over prints.
About Our T-Shirts
What is special about Minycled T-shirts?
Minycled T-shirts are made from soft 100% organic cotton bases, printed in small runs in the UK with original artwork and water-based inks. They’re designed to feel easy, breathable and wearable, with art you can live in every day.
What happens to leftover T-shirt fabric?
Leftover T-shirt fabric is turned into smaller items like scrunchies and purses, or kept for future upcycling projects. The goal is to reduce waste and make the most of each fabric run.
